பரபரப்பான நெடுஞ்சாலையில் பட்டப்பகலில் நடந்த இந்த துப்பாக்கிச்சூடு சம்பவம் அங்கு கடும் அதிர்ச்சியை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது.

இலங்கையின் தெற்கு மாகாணம் பெலியட்டா நகரில் உள்ள நெடுஞ்சாலையில் நேற்று காலை ஜீப் ஒன்று சென்று கொண்டிருந்தது. அப்போது மற்றொரு வாகனத்தில் ஜீப்பை பின்தொடர்ந்து வந்த மர்ம நபர்கள் சிலர் ஜீப்பை வழிமறித்தனர்.

அதன் பின்னர் அந்த மர்ம நபர்கள் ஜீப்பில் இருந்தவர்களை நோக்கி துப்பாக்கியால் சரமாரியாக சுட்டுவிட்டு அங்கிருந்து தப்பி சென்றனர். இதில் 5 பேரின் உடலில் துப்பாக்கி குண்டுகள் துளைத்தன. அவர்களில் 4 பேர் சம்பவ இடத்திலேயே பலியான நிலையில், காயமடைந்த மற்றொருவர் மீட்கப்பட்டு சிகிச்சைக்காக அருகில் உள்ள மருத்துவமனைக்கு கொண்டு செல்லப்பட்டார்.

ஆனால் மருத்துவமனை செல்லும் வழியிலேயே அவரும் பரிதாபமாக உயிரிழந்தார். பட்டப்பகலில் பரபரப்பான நெடுஞ்சாலையில் நடந்த இந்த துப்பாக்கிச்சூடு சம்பவம் அங்கு கடும் அதிர்ச்சியை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது.

கூலிப்படை கும்பலை சேர்ந்தவர்களே இந்த துப்பாக்கிச்சூட்டை நடத்தியிருக்கலாம் என போலீசார் சந்தேகிக்கின்றனர். எனவே அந்த கோணத்தில் போலீசார் விசாரணையை முடுக்கிவிட்டுள்ளனர்.

இலங்கையில் போதைப்பொருள் கடத்தல் மற்றும் கூலிப்படை கும்பல்களின் செயல்பாடுகளை தடுப்பதற்கான சிறப்பு நடவடிக்கையை போலீசார் கடந்த ஆண்டு டிசம்பர் மாதம் தொடங்கியதும், இதுவரை சுமார் 40 ஆயிரம் பேர் கைது செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளதும் குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

5 people shot dead in Sri Lanka's southern province

 This shooting incident which took place in broad daylight on a busy highway has caused a lot of shock there.

 Yesterday morning, a jeep was driving on the highway in the town of Peliata in the southern province of Sri Lanka.  Then some mysterious people who were following the jeep in another vehicle intercepted the jeep.

 After that, the miscreants opened fire on the people in the jeep and fled from there.  5 of them had bullet holes in their bodies.  While 4 of them died on the spot, another injured person was rescued and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

 But he also died tragically on the way to the hospital.  This shooting incident which took place in broad daylight on a busy highway has caused a lot of shock there.

 The police suspect that the mercenary gang may have carried out the shooting.  So the police have accelerated the investigation from that angle.

 It is noteworthy that when the police started a special operation to stop the activities of drug trafficking and mercenary gangs in Sri Lanka in December last year, about 40 thousand people have been arrested so far.
